INSPECT.
TEST.
RECORD.
A practical portable appliance maintenance service for organisations that need clear results without unnecessary complexity.
What is PAT testing?
PAT is the common name for the examination of portable and movable electrical equipment to help establish whether it is safe to use. A proper process includes visual examination as well as electrical testing where appropriate.
What we check
- Plug condition and signs of overheating or damage
- Flexible cable condition and cable restraint
- Equipment casing and accessible damage
- Suitable fuse and plug arrangement where relevant
- Electrical test results appropriate to the equipment class and construction
- Clear identification of failed or unsafe equipment
Important: PAT testing itself is not automatically required every year by law. The legal duty is to maintain electrical equipment to prevent danger. The appropriate inspection/testing regime should be based on equipment type, use, environment and previous findings.
What you receive
We provide a clear record of the equipment inspected/tested and the result. Labels can also be applied where useful as part of your maintenance management system.
New equipment
Brand-new equipment should normally be supplied in a safe condition and does not automatically require a formal PAT before first use. A visual check for obvious damage is still sensible.
Competence matters
The level of competence needed depends on the task. Combined inspection and testing requires appropriate knowledge, training and experience, as well as suitable test equipment.
